I write this now an older, wiser person. Oh, OK, just older. I turned 26 on Sunday, and spent my birthday feeling much better than I did a year ago, when some excessive drinking on my birthday eve rendered the actual day rather ... pukey. Ick. This time my parents were in town, and I hung out with them and Geoffrey, touring Fort Myer (where they were staying) and Arlington Cemetery. Which come to think of it is kinda morbid for a birthday celebration, but then again kinda appropriate since 26 means you've got one foot in the grave anyway. ;) Had a nice steak dinner and spent the rest of the evening hanging at home, watching the DVD (yes, we have the DVD attachment to the XBox now) of Star Wars: Episode II that Geoffrey gave me for my birthday. Dork-tacular!

I'm afraid I'm heading toward the title of "failed novelist." I haven't worked on it in several days (using my parents' visit as a handy excuse), and I'm so far behind now there's little hope of catching up. I learned a lot, though, and did more (and more regular) writing than I have in a long time, so it's a good kind of failure, if it comes to that.

Shout-out to Casey, who has a stem-cell donor now. Shout-out to her donor, too, not that we know who he/she is. We're so glad to hear the news, fellow -asey/-acy, and we're all wishing you a speedy recovery.

LISTENING TO: RHETT MILLER again, since we saw him in concert last week. Such a fun show! He has the most rock 'n' roll hair ever, just trust me. He did some OLD 97s stuff, too, which was loads of fun and possibly the closest I'll come to hearing them live, alas.
