Notice how the "comments" linky thingy at the bottom of my most recent posts says "poseurs" instead. Apparently someone, no doubt a genius who will change the world with his commentary on strangers' two-bit blogs, hacked into the site that provides the comments capability and changed it. So it's not just me, it's anyone with enetation comments. Just so you know it's not me calling you poseurs (at least the hacker can spell!).

Back in DC from my trip home for Christmas. Very good times. Got some good loot, and I think my parents actually liked some of the stuff I gave them for a change! I know you were all worried, so I will just let you know without further ado that I did get to go to Sonic -- twice, in fact -- and was able to partake of my beloved lemon-berry slush. I also went to Dreamland for the best barbeque in the world. Ah, it was delicious. The original Dreamland, of course, is in the middle of nowhere around Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and is world famous for its hole-in-the-wall ambience as well as for the fact they do NOT serve sides. The Atlanta version, alas, is somewhat less hole-in-the-wall-ish (though still good homey ambience) and, most shockingly, serves sides. I did not order a side. I ate only ribs and Sunbeam bread sopped in Dreamland sauce. Mmmmm.

Geoffrey has a favorite new band! It is called Salty the Pocketknife (can't you tell it's cool already???) and features bass player Dustin Diamond. You may know Mr. Diamond better from his work as Screech in the hit TV series "Saved By The Bell." I am not making this up. We were watching E!, and the True Hollywood Story about the show was on, and in the Screech segment, they mentioned the band and played a clip. And Geoffrey says: "You know, that's really not that bad!" And I laughed and laughed. And now you can, too. Here's an Onion AV Club article all about Screech, band stuff toward the bottom. I also learned that Screech once dated Johnny Cash's granddaughter. Which makes me wonder why Screech is not dead. I suspect Johnny Cash is a saint, but that could be a whole 'nother post.

LISTENING TO: (You'd thought I'd forgotten about this, didn't you?) DAVID GRAY/New Day at Midnight. JOHNNY CASH/American IV:The Man Comes Around. And DIXIE CHICKS/Home. They're all good, but the only one that surprises me by being really, geniunely good is the Dixie Chicks. I've always been mostly OK with them, but there are some really good tracks, even a bluegrass instrumental!, on this one. Nice surprise.

Hello from the Dirty South! I am back home in the ATL (where the players play) for Christmas. My first order of business once I landed here was to have a nice little lunch gathering with my girls -- Sara made a very yummy tomato jam sammich and vegetable soup that was great, not that she would admit it. :) Very fun times, though we missed our girl Kim, who's probably spending Christmas putting shrimp on the barbie, since she's in Australia in the midst of summer.

My second order of business upon getting here was to go directly to Sonic to get my beloved lemon-berry slush, but alas. Sonic was closed early for friggin' Christmas Eve. Which means they'll likely be closed on Christmas Day, too. Which means I get no lemon-berry slush until THURSDAY, which is very horrible. I will try to tough it out, but already I have passed the Sonic three times in the car with my parents and I get more and more teary every time I see it.

Also on my trip home I am hoping to accomplish a trip to Waffle House and finding some good barbecue. Hmmm, very food-oriented theme this trip. Such is the life of a tubby.

Hope everyone is doing well, wherever you are, even if not in the holy blessed land of Georgia. Home of Mike Stipe. He's in R.E.M., you know. Merriest of Christmases to you all -- and best wishes for good eatin', good music, good friends, dreams come true and no nuclear annihilation in 2003.
