A little break from blogging, but now I'm back, all relaxed and blissed out after Merlefest. Very good times, good music there. Not so good weather, but you deal with it. Steady rain all day Friday, pretty cold. Saturday there was about 10-15 minutes of really hard rain, but then mostly clear and even some nice sun. So all my clothes came back muddy and soggy, but I came back happy. Some of the bands I saw were: Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Donna the Buffalo, the Waybacks, Laura Love Band (not so keen on their music, but they were fun), Darrell Scott, Doc Watson (of course). Had seen most before, but that's not a problem. One highlight of my time there was dancing crazily in a crowd of crazy dancers at Donna, and turning around at the end of a song to notice a little girl sitting on her dad's shoulders flashing devil horns -- yes, throwing the metal -- toward the stage. Little tiny girl, maybe 5, big blue eyes, blond curls ... rocking out. Yeeeeeeah. Another highlight was I ate the best funnel cake I've ever had. Fried to perfection, it was. Ah yes, a lovely thing. But of course the tippy-top best thing there was -- and always is -- the whole peace and love (sounds hokey, I realize) vibe you get there. Just impossible to be stressed out when you're surrounded by good music, cool people, beautiful scenery and festival food. I needed that.

Not much else going on. Geoffrey and I signed the lease for our new apartment. Can start moving in May 10. Probably we'll take it kinda slow, because we can, but then again, the sooner we get to a place where we can't hear our neighbors sneeze (or walk or fight or have sex), the much, much better.

I really think J.Lo and Ben Affleck are forever. Really.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is ending in four weeks. Very sad. Makes for some damn good TV watching, though. Lots of loose ends tying up, lots of suspense. Yes, yes. I used to make fun of people who watched this show. But I was ignorant then. It is very character driven, and not in a 90210 way. Also rich in plot in kind of an X-files way -- freaky sci-fi stuff on the surface, but somehow believeable thanks to good writing and deeper themes. Ah, anyway. If you're not converted already, you're too damn late anyway. At least this show is ending while it's still good, not slinking off with its tail under its legs like, well, X-Files. Sigh. Don't get me started.

Some things I must address from the last entry's comments:

*** Fruit leather: Ah, it is like Fruit Roll-ups, but all grown up. And in more flavors. Here's a site where you can read all about it, and even get a free sample, Miss Sara. You'd dig it, I think. I recommend grape or mango.

*** Why listening to the Merlefest CD in the car on the way to Merlefest was OK: Because I made the drive Thursday, straight to the cabin. Didn't attend the festival until Friday, Mr. Smarty-pants Will. Moot point anyway. I ended up not listening to it (it kicks ass, by the way) until the drive back. Which was Sunday -- having left the festival Saturday night and sleeping a full night before making the drive Sunday. Don't worry, man. I ain't one to break that rule -- like I bet the TWO people I saw at the Donna the Buffalo show who were wearing Donna T-shirts probably did. I shake my head. Sigh.
