I have a fantastic lot of nothing to say. But Mr. Robot Man is looking at me in a way that says I must update him, so update him I must. He has been somewhat placated of late because I bought my 2004 week-at-a-glance calendar and chose one with ... a robot on the cover and a robot motif throughout. It's very kitschy and weird, but I love it and Mr. Robot Man approves. I can't wait to use it to record important appointments in my important life such as Old 97s concerts (Jan. 23), Jayhawks concerts (Jan. 21 and I'm sure many more this year), CD releases (Sarah Harmer sometime in March) and bluegrass festivals (Merlefest in April, Telluride in June, Rocky Grass in July, and Lyons Folk in August). Not that I'm going to get to go to all those festivals of course (unless I win the lottery and quit my stinkin' job), but I like to write them down anyway. Merlefest is for sure, of course, and maybe one of the Colorado ones if Geoffrey and I get to go out there this summer like we hope to.

It snowed again last weekend, and I am getting scared that we will settle into a pattern like last year where it snows once a week. That is so horrible. This year it's not SUCH a crushing crisis since I don't have to wait for the unpredictable bus every day to go to work, but it still makes me grouchy just to see it, even if I'm not in it. Dumb snow.

Geoffrey and I saw "Return of the King" yesterday. It was very good! It made me a little sad, though, because now that trilogy is over and so is the "Matrix," so aside from "Star Wars" I have no geeky blockbusters to look forward to. Maybe it's time for a break, though, as moviegoers in the DC area universally suck and make me angry. Not as angry as Geoffrey, but pretty angry.

I am proud to announce I finally, FINALLY overcame my laziness and scaredy-ness and sent off a pitch to write a freelance article. Don't wanna get into what it might be about in case it doesn't work out (not because I don't want you to know, but I just get this feeling like it might be bad luck to tell), but I'm just glad I finally stopped talking about it and did it. Of course, I need to have more than one idea and send out more than one pitch, probably, but it's a start.

My friend Donna was on "Jeopardy!" and therefore is the coolest person I know. Her show hasn't aired yet, but it will on March 11 so watch it and root for Donna. Even though I already know what happens. But I won't tell you so you can be in suspense! However, I now know that Geoffrey's philosophy of "BET THE WAD" doesn't always work, just as I suspected. But I know he'll sit there and yell "BET THE WAD" at poor Donna anyway, just like he always does (at Jeopardy, not at Donna).

LISTENING TO: Relistening to some JAYHAWKS, much to Geoffrey's consternation since, in his opinion, they harmonize TOO much. Also feeling the love that exudes from XM every time I turn it on. Ahhhhh ..... XMmmm .....
